Mist Survival.

Early access games within the Survival based genre can often end up being flops with no names mentioned cough cough Just Survive cough cough being one of those examples, But Mist Survival leads by example with a rumored dev team of just one solo person this game is an absolute miracle.

Whiles't still in very early access stages currently build 0.1.9.3 at the time of writing this review, the game is still extremely enjoyable and well worth the low price of just £8.29 even without any additions the game can easily be enjoyed for enough hours if you are worried about £ per hour of gameplay value.

There are a few cons currently in the game but that is expected of early access games anyway, some of the survivors can get glitched in and around base or even completely vanish, they have very little use at the moment except as additional storage though keep your food and drink in a secure locker or you may find it vanishing pretty quickly, Sometimes the survivors can be very useful such as doing tasks for you such as making items whiles't you are building or out gathering resources, but beware they are prone to leaving doors open or getting stuck trying to get in and out of gates, and on the odd occasion they may actually kill the odd infected but for now with their seemingly invulnerability they act as pretty good decoys so you can easily kill those pesky infected or at-least the first ones we have seen anyway.

The Game does lack a decent save/load option but it does have the ability to do that, so be very careful when you save you don't want to end up like i did and reloading in to almost instantaneously die.

The Infected and the mist event aren't the only threat either as the bandits can be quite a nightmare and may seem a little over=powered as things currently stand, and with the upcoming addition of sniper bandits things could get even more intense, but thats not all folks oh no currently there are only a few animals in the game of what i have noticed rabbits which can be extremely fast and hard to kill at the best of times and bears yes bears, if you hear something coming towards you start running those bears can kill you in just a few hits, if your lucky and have weapons then you can fight them of and skin them for food, guts and more but be wary of the time it takes and the durability of the item you use.

Talking of the durability be vary careful not to die because currently death can lead to not only dropping items but also some of those items may lose durability and the lowest Ive seen an item drop is 30% durability, which can be insane and annoying especially considering how hard it can be to come across the items or gather enough resources to build or repair them.

The building system has got to be one of the best i have seen in a survival based game whiles't currently limited to what can be built the system in place is beautiful and allows you to align things almost exactly how you want.

Once you have found a base you can easily switch between bases without any affect so if your out exploring and you find a base nearby and the mist event draws in you can switch bases easy enough if your rescued survivors are of the helpful kind. along with this you can not only break down any items you find or build for just a few less resources but you can also pick most things up and just carry them back to your base saving you the need to build them.

The map is fairly large sized though not all places are fully explorable at the moment with some places lacking in look and even loot such as the town were most of the buildings are just default buildings with no doors to access, vehicles just the breakable ones and no base locations, though some places such as the military base i fully expect to see become more explorable at some point as they begin to add the rumored story.

The game is currently a single player game, but it could easily become a great co-op game though i wouldn't perhaps want to see it go beyond say 4 player co-op, this of cause would require changing some of the mechanics such as sleeping, but i don't see any reason why this couldn't become a success at some later point as the game gets closer to full release.

With each update the game seems to feel more and more complete than ever even when its just a few minor additions or tweaks and fixes.

If you haven't already grabbed this game i highly recommend getting yourself a copy this could potentially become one of the best Survival based Action, Adventure Simulation games around.
